Abstract

In this work, the sound space of the La Tirana party is analyzed, based on the development of the different musical records that come together there. Its uses by the different actors and the combinations of those registers. This space has three components, each one with its relative autonomies: that of the religious dances, that of the Catholic Church and of the state represented by the armed forces. It ends with the analysis of three songs that narrate the festival of La Tirana. One of them, "La Reina del Tamarugal" collects and reproduces very well the local and regional atmosphere of this religious and popular festival. The others, two, "Queen of July 16" and "Rocío de la Pampa", follow the same trend, although in the third the influences of Catholic catechesis can be seen. All this in the context of a party that year is losing its local connotations that are being replaced by "global" elements from universal Catholicism.
