Abstract

This article analyzes the experience of a Peruvian migrant at an argentine border point in the nineties. It analyzes the individual experience of Maria Elena about how one undergoes migration control policies, but also it aims at obtaining tools about power relations, or micro-powers, and resistance modes at the borders. To reach this objective, we work from a qualitative methodology, with surveys carried out to Maria Elena. Also, we recover secondary and primary sources which allow us to contextualize her experience in relation to Peruvian migration to Argentina, and the ongoing sociopolitical context of the region. The article holds that to understand the complexity of migration policies, it is necessary to recover the experiences of the individuals who transit the border points on the one hand; and to ask how they actually accept, reply or resignify migration control policies, without a priori assuming that they comply with the with the prevailing policies.
