Abstract

The present article analyzes from a structuralist and sociological perspective, the characteristics of a chapter of the regional environmental conflict: the use of existing hydric reserves at the Huasco salt deposit situated in the Andes zone of Pica, for urban purposes. In connection with this subject, several problems are discussed using empirical examples related to modern trends of spacial configurations, including power relationships that determine its structure and reflect the existente of a regional project predominanty urban and modern, imposed over one, which is predominantly rural and traditional.
