Abstract

The crisis dynamic, unleashed in Chile from October 18, 2019 onwards, known as the “social outbreak”, has placed the role of the relationships between economy, politics and society at the center of the intellectual and political debate. A kind of “capitalist social theory”, after decades of neoliberalism, has become the predominant conceptual framework in the leading circles of the economy and politics of Chile, Latin America and an important part of the world. This approach provides a very limited set of possibilities for public policies, which makes it extremely difficult to generate adequate responses to the current social discontent and citizen protests.
