Abstract

In this article, a series of reflections will be presented based on the artistic experiences of two Colombian talented women, who found in the visual representations a way to denounce the female control from the behavioral education, institutions like the Church and advertising. Likewise, there is an analysis of the continuous and systematic female repression still present in our days, the causes of gender violence and why the “sexism” remains deeply rooted in the everyday life of society. These reflections are situated in the review of the discussion posed by the author of the thesis Ara Beltrán, linking elements of traditional Colombian education and contemporary female artistic expression. The focus is on specific cases of two artists seeking to break with tradition, ways, forms and roles that have been assigned to the feminine by a gaze from an equally traditional and, why not, anchored in a restrictive timelessness society.
By analyzing female artistic expression in Colombia, is evident that a women can achieve emancipation and demonstrate that, despite continuous repression,
proposals can be established such as those that come from the artistic manifestations that will be analyzed today to reach liberation.
