Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic crisis has generated an unprecedented global situation. Due to its virulence and the unavailability of pharmacological treatments, governments have opted for social distancing and confinement measures on scales never seen before. In addition to the disease itself, these measures have significant effects on the social development of citizens, which goes beyond response to immediate medical conditions, employment protection and measures to immediately ensure household income. This strategy does not consider that the COVID-19 episode has generated economic-financial, socioeconomic, psychological and psychosocial impacts that impose a new structure of situational imperatives of influences and demands for social services, as well as challenges for national social policy systems. .
