Abstract

Environmental demands are becoming more and more compelling each time. Therefore, these demands turn themselves contradictory with the productive activities which create a severe impact on ecology. Hence, we could deduce that there exist some favourable conditions for the population to take a highly active role against en vironmental damage. However, in Iquique, after thírty years of fishíng-industry pollution, environmental demands have not been satisfied. So, the main reason for this work is to evaluate the role of social actors in this sort of social paradox.
