Abstract

Luis Piñones Molina is a Tocopillano through and through. He grew up in the city's Matadero neighborhood. His early childhood fluctuated between school and games. But not just any game. The memory of his Christmas brings to mind gloves, bats and baseballs. He completed his basic and secondary education in the nitrate port. He was a student of the local historian Juan Collao, an issue that is not minor, given the influence he had on him on issues such as historical rescue and the enhancement of memory. Later, in Antofagasta he studied journalism. He remained there, for work reasons, for more than ten years. But always linked to his dear and beloved Tocopilla. This brief note on the biographical situation of the author of the book to be reviewed is worth it, to understand the choice of the topic, his perspective and his involvement with what is portrayed. This also serves to banish that notion of the “suspension of values” and absolute objectivity.
