Abstract

It is perhaps a small, simple, orderly and coherent text, perhaps a fairly friendly reading, with full understanding and contingency. It is a precise text, that is the word. A text that comes from a statistical, scientific and teaching profile, and yet, in this case, leaves open personal deliberation, position, opinion. This makes it relevant and in no way common, perhaps quite the opposite. Not many scientists venture into a good book of social and reflective debate. When they do it, the diffusion they achieve is pleasant and surprising. It is a text that is nothing like the author's other texts, but does not lose its methodical, hypothetical and evidentiary character. Perhaps that is why, being a debate text, it is, at the same time, a good scientific book. That is to say, a very good construction of argument.
